What is Perioral dermatitis?

Perioral dermatitis is a skin disease which gives skin rash, especially around the mouth, eyes and sometimes on the cheeks and around nose. Perioral dermatitis can be caused by several factors.

What causes Perioral dermatitis?

What can I do to get rid of the Perioral dermatitis?

Firstly, try stay away from other products that disrupt the skin’s natural balance, such as self tanning, exfoliation, products for acne, cortisone cream, makeup, and excessive cleaning of skin.

Sun – They say you should avoid sun at Perioral dermatitis, but some people experience that their skin get better when exposed to sunlight. Try what works in your case.

It is preferable not to have any makeup on the skin at all, and doctors recommend that you should not have skin creams either, so-called zero treatment. Many people get flare ups from Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) that is added in many products such as soaps, toothpastes, shampoos, bubble baths so you need to stop using these products. Stay also away from Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS).

If you want to use creams and makeup despite Perioral dermatitis it is recommended to use the following products:

  • Weleda

  • Shea Butter

Other things that can help with perorial dermatitis:

  • MSM – lingusil-sulfur
  • Buckthorn oil
  • Vitamin b5
  • Essex cream sulfur
  • Cider vinegar, both the drinking water and dab the skin.
  • Blackcurrant capsules and Suppressing cream.
